Compone: Collaborative Intermedia Project

Compone is a collaborative intermedia project developed in partnership with students from the Cologne Music Academy and the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM). This academic initiative explores the intersection of musical performance and media art through structured collaborative processes.

Project Framework

The project serves as both an educational platform and creative laboratory where students from two distinct academic disciplines—music and media arts—engage in interdisciplinary collaboration. Through project coaching and guided development sessions, participants explore new forms of artistic expression that emerge from the dialogue between sound, image, performance, and technology.

Academic Structure

  • Project coaching: Structured mentorship sessions guiding students through collaborative development processes
  • Interdisciplinary workshops: Regular sessions fostering dialogue between music and media art students
  • Exhibition preparation: Culminating in a public presentation at the project atelier

Exhibition

The project culminates in an exhibition at the project atelier, where the collaborative works developed throughout the program are presented to the public. This exhibition serves as both a documentation of the creative process and a platform for presenting new forms of intermedia expression that emerge from cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Educational Objectives

The project investigates how structured collaboration between different artistic disciplines can generate new methodologies for intermedia creation, while providing students with practical experience in cross-disciplinary artistic practices and collaborative project development.
