The impetus for the founding of TELEFANTE (a collaboration between Luis Negrón and Juan Orozco) in 2005 was provided by the shared desire to design an optical apparatus that could be used for live performances. In a kind of post-dadaist process, TELEFANTE unites the physical, formal space (actio) with the numerically generated space (projectio), which gives their images a sense of timelessness. The duo's work unfolds somewhere between the magic of the projected image and the constantly elusive present of improvisation.
