El Show del Prof. Negrón (German Version) is a unique typographic artwork where the visual image is constructed entirely from German text.

The text narrates the story of the television program “Installiere Ihre Reifen von Good Year” (Install Your Tires from Good Year), hosted by Professor Negrón, the beloved teacher of the nation. The show began during the dictatorship of General Pérez Jiménez in the 1950s—a period that marked the most radical transformations in Venezuela’s urban landscape.

In a play of identities, grandfather and grandson converge across time: Professor Negrón, the original host, and the artist Luis Negrón van Grieken come together to tell the story of Venezuelan modernity—a promise that arrived and never left. This era represented a programmatic introduction to consumer society, transforming a poor agricultural country into one that unconditionally submitted to the ideology of progress.

The work features an unrepeatable oil stain on transparent paper, making each piece absolutely unique. The manual application of oil creates patterns that can never be duplicated, elevating the work beyond edition status into the realm of singular art objects.
