Sound manipulations, hybrid improvisations, optical processes and digital videos punctuate this spatio-temporal cultural journey between prehistory and antiquity around the Mediterranean.

La Longue Durée is a performance that blends text/voice, music and video, bringing together the improvisational and experimental musicians of Das Mollsche Gesetz (Moll's Law), the video-artist duo Telefante, and Anthony Moore, experimental composer, producer and musician. It draws inspiration from historian Fernand Braudel's text "The Memories of the Mediterranean," a poetic description of an exceptional journey through time, from the prehistoric era to antiquity.

In recent years, the Western world has been able to perceive the Mediterranean region as a zone of drama where terrifying events unfold involving the lives of refugees fleeing wars and persecution. This project attempts to redirect the public's attention toward the politico-utopian choices of cultural forces linking Europe with Africa and the Orient.

"Das Mollsche Gesetz," based on strict rules of playing time and silence (60 seconds each), represents the punctual events in the current of History. The choice of spoken texts was determined by Anthony Moore with regard to their sonority and descriptive power, and represents the medium level of History. Telefante's work constitutes, in some way, the geo-historical level of the performance. The video artists employ themselves in the rediscovery of myth and magical aspects present in the creation of shadow and light images. The technology employed is a prototype of a Laterna magica containing both "analog" and digital images, whose creative process can be followed live on stage.
